A: Investigate

The student does not reach a standard described by any of the descriptors.

States the problem. Collects information from sources to investigate the problem. Lists some specifications.

Describes the problem and mentions its relevance. Selects and analyzes information from acknowledged sources. Describes a test to evaluate the product/solution.

Explains the problem and discusses its relevance. Is critical and evaluates information from a broad range of sources. Describes detailed methods to test and evaluate the product/solution.

B: design

The student does not reach a standard described by any of the descriptors.

Generates one design and makes some attempt to justify it against the design conditions, requirements and restrictions (“design specifications.”)

Generates a few designs, being able to justify the choice of one of them, and evaluates them against design specifications.

Generates a range of feasible designs, each evaluated against design specifications. Student can choose one design and justify the choice critically.

C: plan

The student does not reach a standard described by any of the descriptors.

Produces a plan that contains some details of the steps and/or resources required.

Produces a plan that contains several logical steps that include resources and time. Makes some attempt to evaluate the plan.

Produces a detailed plan that has many logical steps, addressing the use of resources and time. Student critically evaluates the plan and justifies any modification to design.

D: create

The student does not reach a standard described by any of the descriptors.

Considers the plan and creates at least part of a product/solution.

Uses appropriate techniques and equipment. Follows the plan and mentions modifications. Product solution is good.

Competent use of appropriate techniques and equipment. Follows the plan, justifying all modifications. Product/ solution is the best the student can produce.

E: evaluate

The student does not reach a standard described by any of the descriptors.

Evaluates the product solution or their performance. Makes some attempt to test the solution.

Evaluates the product solution and own performance, making suggestions for improvement. Tests the solution against design specifications.

Evaluates the success of the solution objectively, based on results of testing and views of users. Includes suggestions for each stage of the process. Evaluates the impact of the solution.

F: attitudes in technology

The student does not reach a standard described by any of the descriptors.

Occasionally exhibits a satisfactory standard in their motivation, independence and a positive attitude. Rarely shows cooperation and respect for others and for safety.
