WE DID IT!!!

The Codrington School has been approved to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme, which is the gold standard in pre-university education.
By achieving this goal, we have brought a new standard of education to Barbados – ensuring that our students have the best possible start towards their futures.

What is the IB Diploma Programme?
• A two year programme that follows MYP 5 (Form 5).
• Academically challenging, with final examinations.
• Excellent preparation for universities’ independent style of learning.

What advantages will an IB Diploma graduate have?
• Better placements because their diploma is highly regarded and recognised by the world’s leading universities:
- In the UK, completed at the highest level, the diploma is equivalent to six A levels at grade A.
- In Canada, the majority of universities offer early acceptance to IB diploma students. Some universities even grant applicants second year placement.

Why is The Codrington School’s IB Diploma Programme special?
• Ours is the only school in Barbados to have met the rigorous authorisation standards for this programme.
• We now offer all three IB programmes - the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the Diploma Programme (DP).
